Types of Wheelchairs

Standard Wheelchair

Standard wheelchairs are sturdy wheelchairs that have bigger wheels so the chair can be that can be wheeled by the user and back handles if you want to push the chair from behind. Standard wheelchairs are not built to be light they are built to be durable and great for long term use like in a hospital.

Lightweight Wheelchair

Lightweight wheelchairs are similar to the standard wheel chair except they are made with lightweight metals and have a ergo dynamic design. These are great if you have to pack your chair and lift it into a vehicle, Light weight wheelchairs are perfect for on the go users. They come in many brands and styles.

Transport Wheelchair

Transport Wheelchairs do not have big wheels for self-propelling, when you are in a Transport chairs, someone needs to push you along. They come in various models and sizes but are near the same as other manual wheel chairs without the big wheels. The small wheels allow for better turning radiuses in small areas.

On Duty ATP (Assistive Technology Professional)

Our ATP can do a mobility assessment to ensure that the right wheelchair seating for that patient’ needs is selected. Correct seating can effect a person’s comfort, health, level of fatigue or energy, and ability to breathe. So it is really important that consideration is given to their individual size, requirements, and intended use.

That is why we offer home evaluations as well. Selecting the right wheelchair is not a “one-size-fits-all” process and Harmony Home Medical is here to help make sure you or your loved one get the best product for YOU.

After Purchase Care

Once you purchase a wheelchair from Harmony Home Medical the experience does not stop there.

We provide one year FREE in-home service on all new wheelchairs.
We offer free light maintenance and adjustments in-store for life.

We can also adjust a lot of the chairs to accommodate needs of patients over time. Our bodies change and our needs change with time, so new cushion or back selections can be made if needed.

Standard Wheelchairs are made to last

Standard wheelchairs are made of hard steel that is extremely durable and most are coated with a protective chrome or paint that make them very rust resistant and built to last. You can replace the seating on them so you can expect them to last 10 years.

Lightweight Wheelchair Features

Lightweight wheelchairs are all about easy transportation. A few of our models come with great features like detachable wheels or folding wheelchair backrest. This allows you to easily get it in and out of the back of your car.
