What is a Vertical Platform Lift?
A vertical platform lift, or VPL, is a motorized lift that raises and lowers a platform between two levels. Unlike a stair lift where you transfer to a seat, a platform lift lets you stay in your wheelchair or scooter the entire time. They're a great alternative to ramps when space is limited or the elevation change is too steep for a ramp to be practical.
Who Can Benefit from a Platform Lift?
Platform lifts are a good solution for wheelchair and scooter users who need to access elevated areas of their home or property. Common situations include:
- Accessing a raised deck or porch
- Getting into a home with steps at the entry
- Moving between garage level and living level
- Commercial properties needing ADA-compliant access
